Looking at the last date of update, I realised I have been neglecting this blog for the longest time! 2yrs and 8months?! Where have I disappeared to? :) Lots of things had happened during the 2yrs and I shall not bored you with those events.
So what have i been up to?
Earlier this year, my son, Louis became the biggest fan of Angry Birds. We have been buying the rubber figurines for him so that he can play with his Angry Birds toys. Some of the figurines are not found in Singapore and that's when I decided to "make one for him". I started using his playdoh.. But playdoh doesn't last and it gets moldy when it's left sitting there.. eeks.. Then I uses those traditional air-dry clay that need to paint... But it turned hard and breakable after it's dried.

Louis and I created these Angrybirds |
After doing some research, I found out there's something called coloured clay nowadays! Wow.. no painting required? cool...! And the end product is much better! I went down to Bras Basah to shop for clay without much delay. There are quite many choices. I didn't choose Fimo Clay because it needs to be baked. So I chose this clay called "jumping clay". It came in a box of 8 colours. Looks really interesting.. I was excited to create some angry birds with it. The texture was so different from the traditional clay I used to play with. It's easy to deal with... and colour is bright and vibrant. It can easily mixed around to get your desired colors. Needless say, I was hooked. And another pleasant surprise is it's so light... and it actually bounce!! That's why it's called "JUMPING CLAY"! Perfect for Louis' Angry Birds collection!

And I created a little too many! LOL! |
Anyway, we had fun with Jumping clay! However, I realised it couldn't satisfy my needs anymore when I wanted to create finer details. The Jumping clay dried off faster than I wanted it to be when I tried to create fine details. At this point of time, we chance upon Popular Fair at Suntec Convention Centre. There was a Fimo demo table and I was obviously being attracted to it. I was amazed by how detailed the clay can be sculptured. I was so tempted to switch over to using Fimo - however I stopped myself because (1) I don't have an oven (2) I just brought some new Jumping clay! :( I put Fimo clay at the back of my mind after leaving the convention.
I started making other stuffs using Jumping Clay.. :) Will continue in the next post......
